ANTIQUE SHIP IN A BOTTLE, Stock No 19 (above) A sailor made ship in a bottle of a four masted barque being escorted into port by a steam tug. The diorama backdrop is extremely detailed and shows coastline, lighthouse, signal stations, windmills, houses and trees. The ship is named "FRIEDA" and is set on a simulated moulded putty sea and details include: standing and running rigging, deck houses, foredeck railings and numerous flags. The steam tug has simulated smoke coming from the funnel, there is also two smaller steam vessels and two sailing vessels in the bottle. This ship in a bottle was made by a German sailor and the flags on the signal stations, lighthouse, tug and barque are the German Schleswig-Holstein flag, the sailing ship also has a triple gaffed mizzen mast which was common on German vessels.
